News and updates Sam's Gospel Music Course 2010 Our course continues on October 18th 2010 Welcome to Sam's Gospel Music Course . This is a FREE online course, my way of giving back the skill and experience God has given to me. The course is totally self-paced so there's no need to rush through the course lessons and information. There are many of you who are first time musicians and have been picking up tips here and there from other musicians and the internet. Some are experienced musicians who want to enhance the skill they currently have. The style I teach is traditional gospel incorporating the hymns, gospel and classical jazz styles I learned in my youth and applied to the music I play. I don't teach the number system and I don't knock it, I just never learned to play music using that method. I hope to make that system a little more useful in your everyday playing. I'm big on playing melody and chords so most of the course will emphasis on practicing scales, chords and patterns then applying them to melody lines of standard selections sung in church. With the aid of youtube videos I will have more formal lessons for advanced musicians to study. I encourage everyone to use the reference materials that will be updated as the course goes on. We will cover simulated Hammond organ techniques for organists using videos from our files and youtube clips. Register by emailing us your name, church you attend and instrument you play.
